Job Details - Asphalt Paving Personnel

 

Bryson Grading & Paving is looking for personnel with experience with asphalt paving. We are looking to hire enthusiastic and hardworking laborers to assist in the pouring, smoothing and setting of asphalt for roads, driveways, and parking lots. As an asphalt laborer, you should be physically fit and be able to work long hours in all weather conditions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Offloading the truck and gathering tools for the day.

• General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.

• Transporting rakes, lutes, shovels, and other equipment to the paver.

• Required ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools.

• Assisting the supervisor with measuring and lining out the area for the day’s paving.

• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.

• Working as a Flagger to direct motorists away from the work zone.

• Transporting water to the rollers, power broom, and plate compactor.

• Building a launchpad for the paver at the beginning of the pull.

• Assisting the screed operator.

• Shoveling material out to the end gate.

• Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.

• Maintaining cleanliness and packing equipment away at the end of the day.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Knowledge of road and traffic regulations.

• Ability to work as part of a team.

• A strong work ethic with attention to detail.

• Ability to work for long hours in all weather conditions.

• Be able to work overtime when required.

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

• Must have strong work ethic.

• Ability to work in a team setting.

• Communication skills; Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times.

• Posses excellent observation skills.

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.

• Possess valid driver’s license with insurable driving record and reliable transportation to work.

 

Bryson Grading & Paving does work in Highlands, Cashiers, Franklin, & surrounding areas in Western North Carolina and is a drug free workplace. Must be willing to commute to Highlands every day.
